This year, Brompton Academy have created a sports leaders program that celebrates students who go above and beyond in their PE lessons and show a potential to be future leaders in sport.
We currently have nine sports leaders on the program at the Academy and they have received their own PE top to celebrate their commitment. This PE top has sports leader printed on the back and their initials on the front to mirror uniform that coaches wear in sports.
Sports leaders are responsible for supporting their peers in lessons through our ten core values that we have practiced in our training sessions after school. This includes understanding how we can support others, the barriers we may face, and how to overcome them so that everyone in the lesson experiences success.
We also have had the opportunity to send two of our sports leaders on to a volunteer training course to further improve their skills and to help with sporting events outside of the Academy, which is an excellent responsibility.
For the programme to progress, the PE team are always looking to recruit new sports leaders through promoting what it takes to be a sports leader in lessons and the values that need to be demonstrated. We are currently looking for new sports leaders to join the program in Term 4. If this is something that students are keen to be a part of, they must ensure they have strong work ethic and positive attitude in lessons!
