MFL (Woolf Mini School) 2017/2018

The MFL Department at Brompton Academy aims to inspire pupils to embark on a life-long enjoyment of languages and develop an understanding, interest, respect and empathy for other nationalities and cultures.

Key Stage 3 MFL

Spanish and German are taught at KS3. Pupils will develop their proficiency in the four key skill areas - speaking, listening, reading and writing. This will be done through a variety of games and activities aimed at building pupil confidence so that they are able to communicate and express themselves confidently in Spanish and German.

Key Stage 4 MFL

Spanish is currently taught at KS4. We follow the AQA GCSE specification. At KS4 pupils will consolidate the speaking, listening, reading and writing skills they developed at KS3 and expand their vocabulary. They will cover a wide range of topic and develop their use Spanish in real life situations. They will also be introduced to a number of new grammatical structures.

Phase Two (Year 9)

Identity and culture: Me , my family and friends. Relationships

Local, national, international and global areas of interest. Home, town, neighbourhood and region

Current and future study and employment. My studies.

Identity and culture: Free time. Music, Cinema, food and eating and sport.

Identity and culture. Customs and festivals in Spanish-speaking countries/ communities.
