Phase One Science Challenge

Ninety-six students from Years 7 and 8 took part in X Lab this term. Students reaching or exceeding their target grades were given an additional challenge of designing, making and testing cars propelled by pressurised air.

Students had to consider Newton’s Third Law and work out the best design that reduced drag to make the fastest car. They then had to test their design by measuring it’s speed and how far it could travel.

The fastest car was recorded at 37 m/s and the longest distance 29.5 m!
