Brompton Academy Duke of Edinburgh

Promotion started in earnest last term and will be continuing until the end of the year.

A great start so far but we still have spaces available if your child wishes to take part in such an amazing award. The Duke of Edinburgh programme is available to students in years 9, 10 and 12 and looks fantastic on your child’s CV.

We are also really excited to announce that we have purchased our own kit store. We have brand new equipment that can be hired at a small cost, making the award so much more accessible to everyone. Items that can be hired are rucksacks, roll mats, waterproofs, cooking stoves and tents.

Dates have now been confirmed for 2019:
Bronze training/practice 28th and 29th March 2019 Bronze assessed 4th and 5th April 2019

Silver training/practice 2nd, 3rd and 4th May 2019 Silver assessed 9th, 10th and 11th May 2019

Isabel (DofE Student Ambassador) writes:

The Duke of Edinburgh Award is an opportunity for students to learn new skills, make friends and broaden their horizons. If you decide to join the DofE family, you will be asked to fill out three sections on the online system with the support of the DofE team at the Academy. Yes, you will have the opportunity to do an expedition for two days and one night, but I can’t tell you how many memories I made with my friends. DofE brought us closer together and allowed us an opportunity to make new friends along the way. When you finish the Bronze Award, there is a spectacular award ceremony at Rochester Cathedral. The Academy also offers the Silver Award, which is an extended version of the Bronze and is guaranteed to make your CV stand out from the crowd.

This term we successfully completed the Bronze and Silver expeditions by walking through Wateringbury and camping at Hamlet Wood. We are all looking forward to the groups’ expedition presentations.
