“Curiosity about life in all of its aspects… is still the secret of great creative people.” -Leo Burnett

The Woolf Mini School is the vehicle for self expression and discovery and at its heart holds a firm commitment to developing creative, ambitious and independent learners.  We seek to nurture creativity by providing opportunities, both within the curriculum and in addition to, which develops student aspiration, self esteem and talent.

Students graduate at Year 9 into the Woolf Mini School, which may signify their passion for the Arts subjects, but their curriculum is not restricted to these disciplines and students can continue to enjoy a broad and balanced educational offer.  The Woolf Mini School offers a rich menu of specialist subjects which include: Art, Photography, Performing and Media Arts and Spanish.

Students are strongly encouraged to engage in additional learning through many extra curricular activities, providing students with an array of outlets to develop and showcase their many talents.  Activities include a wide variety of performance based opportunities such as musical recitals, concerts and competitions both at the Academy and at external prestigious events.  Many students have taken part in National competitions including The World Dance Challenge record breaking attempt for the London Olympics and Turner Contemporary Art Competition, where students' work was displayed in the Turner Contemporary Art Gallery in Margate.

Above all, the Woolf Mini School is a ‘family’.  Students are affiliated with the family in Year 9 where they are supported in all aspects of academic and pastoral care by the Head, Deputy Head of Mini School and all Arts academy staff until they graduate into Phase Three (6th form) and continue their studies.
