Appeals for Year 7 – Academic Year 2019/2020

Friday 1st March 2019 - The offer of a place in a school will be given.

Friday 29th March 2019. This is the date by which an appeal should be submitted to this school for a place if you do not want the one you have been allocated.

You are reminded that all applicants for a place in this school should have taken the Fair Banding Test.  If your child did not do this and you wish to appeal for a place in Year 7, then you should have a very good reason with supporting evidence to verify this.

Provisional dates for appeals.

3rd, 4th, 6th, 10th, 11th, 14th, 17th and 18th June 2019

Once you have registered for an appeal you will be sent a letter and asked to contact the school to be given an appeal date and time. If the school does not hear from you, then it will be assumed that you do no longer wish to appeal for a place.

Your appeal should state your reasons for your request and any additional information/documentation/appendices should be submitted five days before the appeal to allow time for it to be copied and distributed to all the interested parties. At least 10 working days before your appeal, unless you choose to waive this right, you will be sent detailed information regarding the process and also the date, time, place and names of the independent panel members who will hear the appeal.

This school is heavily over-subscribed and it is important that you prepare your case very carefully taking note of the guidance that will be sent to you.

All other appeals known as ‘in-year’ casual admissions and ones for Year 7 submitted after 30th March will be heard within 30 days of submitting the request.

The school is unable to guarantee that any original work/evidence/folders, submitted as part of the appeal, will be returned. Applicants may wish to submit copies in advance and then take important original documents verifying evidence to the appeal.

Applicants are respectfully asked to note that an excessive amount of supporting evidence should not be necessary. Guidance regarding this matter will be given once the appeal has been submitted.

If you have any queries regarding appeals, then please contact Mrs Hodgson at the Academy on 10634 852341 or email JoHodgson@universityofkentacademiestrust.org.uk.
